In order to explain the potential mechanism involved in fibrosis reduction by human amniotic membrane, we explored the expression levels of two profibrotic genes: an established major profibrogenic cytokine, Tgfb1, and a novel involved protein in liver fibrosis recently linked to prognosis of biliary atresia patients, Apln. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and Hepatic fibrosis.
