INS and metabolic syndrome: Casa-Agustench et al. (2011) [41] reported similar reductions in fasting insulin (−2.60 μU/mL (95% confidence interval (CI): −4.62, −0.59)) and HOMA-IR (−0.72 (95% CI: −1.28, −0.16)) (p < 0.05 for both) in a parallel, controlled trial of 50 MetS patients supplemented with 30 g/day mixed nuts (15 g walnuts, 7.5 g each of almonds and hazelnuts) for 12 weeks.
