miR-122 represents 70% of the total miRNAs in the normal liver [25,26]. In the primary HCC tissues as well as hepatoma cell lines, miR-122 was found to be down-regulated conceiving its role as a tumor-suppressive miRNA [27,28].It targets many oncogenic genes such as disintegrin and metalloprotease 17 (ADAM17) [29], Bcl-w[30], Wnt1[31] and cyclin G1 (CCGN1) [32]. Here, WNT1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
