NLRP3 inflammasome plays a critical role in MSU‐induced inflammation, and clinical studies have demonstrated efficacy of IL‐1 inhibitors in the treatment of patients with acute and chronic gout (Martinon et al, 2006; McGonagle et al, 2007; So et al, 2007; Terkeltaub et al, 2009; Jesus & Goldbach‐Mansky, 2014). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and gout.
