Nine of these cancer clusters, arising from thyroid, brain, liver, kidney clear cell, thymoma, prostate, pancreatic, pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma, and B-cell lymphoma, contained tumors with low relative expression of RPL3. These clusters also shared expression patterns with other RPTs, including the relative down-regulation of RPL5 and up-regulation of RPL36 and RPL38. Excluding thyroid cancers, all other tumor clusters with low RPL3 also shared 11 other similarly co-regulated RPTs. This evidence concerns the gene RPL5 and hereditary pheochromocytoma-paraganglioma.
