CEACAM5 and cancer: Interestingly, other established cancer biomarkers, such as carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA-125) (66), carbohydrate antigen 19.9 (CA19.9 or sialyl Lewisa) (67), and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) (68), are all strongly associated with an aberrant glycosylation profile during cancer progression and more specifically, with increased levels of fucosylation.
