CD2AP has been shown to bind to the tumour suppressor protein p53 in the cytoplasm of human lung carcinoma cells (Panni et al., 2015), and considering that p53 has been reported to be sequestered at the surface of the Theileria schizont (Haller et al., 2010), we hypothesised that schizont‐associated CD2AP could play a role in recruiting p53 to the parasite. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is lung carcinoma.
