Recently, by array- and sequencing-based profiling of pancreatic cancer genomes, we uncovered deleterious deletions and mutations targeting key subunits of the SWItch/Sucrose Non-Fermentable (SWI/SNF) chromatin remodeling complex in at least one-third of pancreatic cancers [7], findings since confirmed by others [6, 8]. This evidence concerns the gene SMARCA1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
