Together, these results revealed that A-769662 had anti-obesity and anti-hyperlipidemic effects, and this agonist improved glucose tolerance in HFD-fed mice but not in chow-fed mice, indicating that chronic AMPK activation might be specifically effective in the obese mouse model and have negligible adverse effects in normal lean mice. The gene discussed is PRKAA1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
