VIM and cholangiocarcinoma: Changes in vimentin glycosylation have been observed in models of differentiating adipocytes (Ishihara et al., 2010) and neurons (Farach and Galileo, 2008), and a recent study observed a correlation between vimentin O-GlcNAcylation and the invasive potential of cholangiocarcinoma (Phoomak et al., 2017), implicating glycosylation changes in both the physiological and pathological functions of vimentin.
