Interestingly, a previous analysis of germline p53 mutations in breast cancer revealed that the Li-Fraumeni and Li-Fraumeni-like syndromes are closely related with the loss of the initiation codon of the Δ133p53 isoforms, which suggests that the Δ133p53 isoforms are required for the genetic stability in germline cells [60]. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is Li-fraumeni-like syndrome.
