There is a significant reduction in synaptophysin in the hippocampus, cingulate and frontal cortices of patients with schizophrenia as compared to matched healthy controls, although the findings in the CC were not significant after excluding a study that did not match for PMI, and we did not find significant results for the levels of SNAP-25, PSD-95, VAMP and syntaxin in the frontal cortex. This evidence concerns the gene SYP and schizophrenia.
