However, while pituitary adenomas/hyperplasia caused by genetic alterations in components of the cAMP pathway (such as GNAS in the McCune-Albright syndrome and PRKAR1A in Carney complex) share similar molecular, histopathological and clinical characteristics, AIPmut-related pituitary adenomas display distinctive features that point to the involvement of additional independent signaling pathways [1, 6, 31]. Here, PRKAR1A is linked to McCune-Albright syndrome.
