Munkley et al. [47, 48] reported that the expression of ST6GalNAc1 (the sialyltransferaseα-GalNAc α-2,6-sialyltransferase, an enzyme that catalyses the transfer of a sialic acid molecule in an α-2-6 linkage onto the Tn antigen (resulting in GalNAc1-O-serine/threonine)) was increased in primary prostate tumours and decreased in metastatic tissue relative to non-malignant prostate tissue. Here, ST6GALNAC1 is linked to prostate neoplasm.
