Importantly, Ribbe et al. (77) demonstrated elevated levels of CRHR1 mRNA relative to CRHBP mRNA in blood from individuals carrying the dual polymorphism, suggesting that CRF1 activation by CRF or urocortin-1 predominates over CRF/CRF-BP or urocortin-1/CRF-BP interactions in individuals with high predisposition to develop alcohol use disorders.
