Polymorphisms in CRHBP, which is hypothesized to modulate the amount of CRF or urocortin-1 available to interact with its receptors, have been related to decreased EEG alpha wave power (72), a feature observed in alcoholics (72, 73), and are more prevalent in alcoholics with comorbid anxiety disorders (74). The gene discussed is CRHBP; the disease is anxiety disorder.
