While half of these (caldesmon 1 isoform, UDP glucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridyltransferase, heat shock protein 70, amyloidosis patient HL-heart-peptide, transferrin, and transthyretin isoforms) were down-regulated in GBS, the other half (serine/threonine kinase 10, alpha II spectrin, IgG heavy chain, SNC73 protein, cathepsin D preprotein, haptoglobin, and α-1-antitrypsin isoforms) were up-regulated. The gene discussed is SPTAN1; the disease is amyloidosis.
