The PITX1 genetic variant was significantly associated with an increased risk of CRC, exhibiting an OR (95% CI) of 1.67 (1.16–2.39) for homozygous minor allele carriers (AA) compared with homozygous major allele carriers (CC) after adjusting for potential confounders, including age, gender, education, regular exercise, alcohol use, family history of CRC and total energy intake. This evidence concerns the gene PITX1 and colorectal carcinoma.
