Fdx is a narrow spectrum antibiotic that inhibits Gram-positive anaerobes and mycobacteria (including Mtb) much more potently than Gram-negative bacteria (Kurabachew et al., 2008; Srivastava et al., 2011), but the clinical use of Fdx is limited to intestinal infections due to poor bioavailability (Venugopal and Johnson, 2012). The gene discussed is FDX1; the disease is digestive system infectious disorder.
