With regards to virus infection it has been shown that silencing of the RPS6 and S6K genes in N. benthamiana decreased accumulation of CMV, PVA and turnip mosaic virus (TuMV, potyvirus), which is in contrast to turnip crinkle virus and tobacco mosaic virus (TuCV and TMV respectively; tobamoviruses).
