Remarkably, we found that restoring in vivo Cx30 expression selectively in astrocytes from the hippocampus of Cx30−/− mice at P15 using adenoviral vectors (Fig. 6C,D and Fig. S3) was sufficient to fully rescue a normal polarity phenotype in s.r. astrocytes from 1-month-old animals, whereas GFP infection alone had no effect (polarity index: −/−+GFP: 0.99±0.02, n=34 cells; −/−+Cx30: 1.36±0.07, n=32 cells, Fig. 6E). This evidence concerns the gene GJB6 and infection.
