A number of studies have shown that EMAP-II is a tumor suppressor, for example, in fibrosarcoma (Haridas et al., 2008), pituitary adenomas (Bottoni et al., 2007), pancreatic cancer (Awasthi et al., 2010, 2011, 2013), gliomas (Liu et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene AIMP1 and pituitary gland adenoma.
