Whereas other sialyltransferases have been reported to be upregulated in many cancer types, including PC (Hatano et al., 2011; Pearce and Laubli, 2016), ST6GALNAC3 has only previously been investigated in renal cancer, where transcriptional expression was found to be downregulated in cancer cell lines but unaltered in clinical cancer tissue samples (Pearce and Laubli, 2016; Senda et al., 2007). Here, ST6GALNAC3 is linked to renal carcinoma.
