IGHE and asthma: The subtypes are eosinophilic asthma (EA), neutrophilic asthma, mixed granulocytic asthma, and paucigranulocytic asthma.[1] Asthma can also be categorized based on clinical symptoms and eosinophilic degree.[2] The CD4 T-helper cell type 2 (Th2)-mediated pathway orchestrated by the airway epithelium has been recognized as a driving force in allergic EA.[3,4] However, EA can also be underlain by a non-Th2 mechanism involving innate lymphoid cell type 2 (ILC2).[5,6] Both pathways are associated with expression of IgE.
