SIK1 and gastric adenocarcinoma: Among these proteins, we identified the class II histone deacetylases 4, 5 and 7a (Table 1) that were subsequently shown to be genuine substrates of SIK phosphorylation activity in chemosensory neurons of C. elegans by the SIK ortholog KIN-29 [38], in D. melanogaster adipose tissue by SIK3 [39], in mouse myotubes by SIK1 [40], in human embryonic cells and mouse myoblasts by SIK2 and SIK3 [41] and in human gastric adenocarcinoma cells by SIK1 [42].
