Conversely, the C. glabrata WT strain decreased TLR-4 expression in the mouse colons as colitis developed when compared to colons of mice treated with DSS only, suggesting that stimulation of TLR-4 is driven by overgrowth of E. coli and E. faecalis, while the increase in MBL-C expression is related to Candida sensing35. This evidence concerns the gene TLR4 and colitis.
