Since several non-malignant diseases have deregulated PTK signaling, and tyrosine kinases are simultaneously activated, TKIs are promising multi-component therapeutic targets not only related to cancer research but also to treat other non-malignant but proliferative disorders including cardiac hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid disorders, glomerulonephritis, and lung, liver, and muscle fibrosis [54].
