The results showed that the mRNA levels of the matrix metallopeptidase 7 (MMP7), the prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2, also known as COX-2 (PTGS2), the oncogenic growth factor receptor MET, and the cell cycle protein cyclin D1 (CCND1) were clearly induced in the two colon cancer cell lines by MACRO-CM from both THP-1 and U937 macrophages (Fig 7). This evidence concerns the gene CCND1 and colonic neoplasm.
