Currently, fibrosis of IgG4-related disease is thought to be induced by profibrotic cytokines such as transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1), interleukin 1 beta (IL1B) and interferon gamma (IFNG), which are secreted by regulatory T cells (Tregs) and CD4-positive cytotoxic T cells. Here, CD4 is linked to immunoglobulin G4-related sclerosing disease.
