Analysis of single nucleotide resolution mapping of m6A, in combination with ribosome profiling, revealed that METTL3-mediated m6A modification promotes translation of c-MYC (MYC proto-oncogene, bHLH transcription factor), BCL-2 (B cell leukemia/lymphoma 2), and PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homolog) in human AML cells [156]. The gene discussed is METTL3; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
