Genetic studies have shown that catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), a severe form of arrhythmia induced by emotional stress or exercise in patients without previous cardiac disease, is caused by missense mutations of the RyR2 gene that disrupt the interactions between the protein domains responsible for channel closing [7,8]. Here, RYR2 is linked to cardiac arrhythmia.
