The most important findings were those (1) the mean and peak carotid WSS were independently associated with eGFR derived from serum concentrations of creatinine and/or cystatin C using three CKD-EPI (the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration) equations and ACR after adjustment for confounders; (2) the carotid WSS was strongly related to endothelial function; and (3) the endothelial function was closely related to renal function. The gene discussed is CST3; the disease is chronic kidney disease.
