The groups demonstrated that CD70 deficiency (16) causes a reduction of in vitro-generated EBV-specific cytotoxic T cell activity and to a decreased expression of 2B4 and NKG2D, receptors implicated in controlling EBV infection, on memory CD8+ T cells, consistent with their impaired capability to kill EBV-infected cells (15). This evidence concerns the gene CD70 and Epstein-Barr virus infection.
