One study showed a significantly lower haemoglobin (Hb) level with severe thrombocytopaenia (11.66 ± 2.19, n = 79) compared to those with moderate thrombocytopaenia (12.65 ± 1.63, n = 93) (P = 0.002) or the healthy (non-malaria) participants (12.29 ± 1.99, n = 100) (P = 0.05) [58]. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and Thrombocytopenia.
