SCD and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: The 16:1/16:0 ratio showed significant higher levels in HP diet indicating either increased hepatic Stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD1) or higher availability of palmitic acid (C16:0) as a substrate for the enzymatic reaction (p < 0.0001), suggesting that the increased SCD1 activity in the liver of HP group might be involved in the process of hepatic lipid accumulation with potential to promote NAFLD (Table 3).
