INS and Hypoglycemia: In a recent population-based study [51] of >120,000 individuals with diabetes who were new users of a non-insulin glucose-lowering agent, individuals with an eGFR <30 ml min−1 [1.73 m]−2 using only sulfonylureas had a fivefold increased risk of hypoglycaemia compared with users of metformin only (HR 4.96 [95% CI 3.76, 6.55]).
