The cohort was examined for two CAF-associated proteins with putative prognostic significance: tenascin-C, which has been shown to be up-regulated in a number cancers, and caveolin-1, the loss of which is a strong predictor of overall survival in breast cancer and is a promising marker in NSCLC [5, 8, 22]. This evidence concerns the gene TNC and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
