GPX1 and cancer: GPX1 has been reported to be implicated in oncogenesis and progression of several cancer types (Diwadkar‐Navsariwala & Diamond, 2004; Zhuo et al., 2009), it's overexpression suppresses intracellular ROS which attenuates growth factor receptor activation mediated by oxidative stress, resulting in decreased cellular proliferation (Handy et al., 2009; Oberley, 2005).
