EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma: A small phase II trial compared erlotinib to carboplatin–gemcitabine in 24 patients with resectable, EGFR mutant, stage IIIA (N2) NSCLC and found an overall response of 38% for erlotinib compared to 25% for chemotherapy, although there was no survival benefit for erlotinib (77).
