The minor alleles of three SNPs in the FTO gene (rs1121980-T, rs1421085-C and rs17817449-G), in LD with each other (r2>0.88), were instead associated with a significantly lower risk of nephropathy, with ORs 0.64 (95% CI 0.42-0.96; p=0.030), 0.63 (95% CI 0.42-0.95; p=0.026), and 0.66 (95% CI 0.44-0.98; p=0.044), respectively. This evidence concerns the gene FTO and kidney disorder.
