The most important finding in this study is that IgG antibody responses to environmental pathogens inversely correlate or tend to correlate with serological disease marker levels and severity of arthritis, whereas IgA antibody levels and the IgA/IgG antibody ratio positively correlate or tend to correlate with those marker levels among the patients with RA despite no apparent defect in the antibody response function as shown in Fig 1.
