IL-12/ms treatment of mice infected with N. gonorrhoeae allows the emergence of Th1-driven specific immune responses, including the production of antigonococcal antibodies, secretion of IFN-γ by CD4+ T cells, establishment of recallable immune memory, accelerated clearance of the existing infection, and resistance to reinfection by the same strain of N. gonorrhoeae 1 month later (8). Here, CD4 is linked to infection.
