IL1B and myocardial infarction: A recent study involving 10,061 patients with previous myocardial infarction and C-reactive protein levels above 2 mg/l, showed that IL-1 inhibition, using Canakinumab, reduced the composite end point of non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke, and cardiovascular death by 15 and 14% using 150 and 300 mg of this agent, respectively (injected once every 3 months).
