CHRNA7 and Alzheimer disease: AD can be primary or secondary, acute or chronic and transient or progressive.25 There are many reports to indicate that liver cirrhosis is associated with AD and the vagal activity appears to be significantly lower in cirrhotic subjects in comparison with healthy individuals.27,28Figure 1 shows an example of a concept map that describes the relationship between vagus-α7nAChR axis, worsening of cirrhosis due to inflammation and vagal hypoactivity in cirrhosis.
