MAPT and Alzheimer disease: The prion-like seeding and propagation of Tau pathology in the present study is consistent with previous studies in which investigators employed intracerebral injection of brain homogenates from Tau-transgenic mice [9, 40, 41] and humans with pathologically confirmed AD or related tauopathies [10, 42], or synthetic tau fibrils formed in vitro [11, 43], into h-Tau-transgenic mice or wild-type mice [10, 44] to show the conversion of the host Tau into insoluble NFT-like aggregates and their spread in recipient mice.
