An open-label, multicenter, phase Ib trial of pembrolizumab for treatment of R/M HNSCC (KEYNOTE-012) enrolled 60 patients who tested positive for the programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1); 23 (38%) patients were HPV positive and 37 (62%) were HPV negative.[6] The overall rate of drug-related adverse events of any grade was 63% (n = 38), and the most common adverse events were fatigue, pruritus, nausea, decreased appetite, and rash.
