Eight of the fifteen significantly mutated genes identified in the original TCGA-SKCM study were also mutated in melanoma cell lines including BRAF, TP53, NF1, NRAS, PTEN, MAP2K1, IDH1, and RB1. These eight genes were tested for mutual exclusivity within each data set with the Comet Exact Test [27]. Here, MAP2K1 is linked to melanoma.
