Interestingly, indicators of increased interferon-mediated signaling (CXCL9, CXCL10, and CXCL11) are also heightened in LPP (21), and scarring skin lesions of discoid lupus are also characterized by high numbers of skin-homing cytotoxic lymphocytes associated with strong expression of Th1 markers (22), although IL8 and IL36G have not been reported to play a role in LPP or discoid lupus. The gene discussed is CXCL10; the disease is lichen planopilaris.
