PTEN and ovarian teratoma: The conditional loss of phosphatase and tensin homolog (Pten) in PGCs leads to both testicular and ovarian teratomas, perhaps owing to the activation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase (Akt) pathway that is suppressed by Pten (Kimura et al., 2003; Ramaswamy et al., 1999).
