In addition, several of the genes that showed an increase over time have been found to be upregulated in partial hepatectomy liver regeneration models, including Gja, Mgp, and Ptprd. Other genes found to be upregulated included those associated with cell proliferation and regulation of hepatic carcinomas, such as Emilin1, Mmp23b, Tmem255b, Abi3bp, Gpc3, Lpar1, Efemp2, Ogn, and Snal. In contrast, very few genes showed at least a 2-fold significant decrease in expression between day 2 and day 15 and between day 15 and day 28. Here, MMP23B is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
