Previous studies have also shown that BAX and BAK protein levels are generally exceeding the levels of antiapoptotic BCL-2 proteins in colon cancer cells and CRC patient tumour samples, suggesting that single inhibition of BAX or BAK may not be sufficient to induce resistance in colon cancer cells and that rather the complex biology of the BCL-2 interaction network determines cell survival11,12.
